PUMP UP THE VOLUME (1990)

I’m the worst present giver in the world. It’s the truth. I constantly resort to gift vouchers and the standard ‘DVD’ package when giving presents. The funniest thing is I’m the first one to preach about giving meaningful presents. So, I give my Dad a JB voucher and he comes home with ‘Pump up the volume’. He explains it’s story, sounds sorta cool, so I watched it.

Basically, it’s about a kid who moves into suburbia who has no friends or social life in his new neighborhood. So after a few weeks living there, he starts his own pirate radio station (those were the days). He suddenly gets a following and does it all under the name ‘Hard Harry’

When his show starts influencing his generation, and becomes a voice for the frustrated youths, things start to get out of control. Cool stuff. Peep the trailer:

Yes, that’s Christian Slater.
