After seeing Allen Iverson’s teary press-conference the other day, it got me feeling both amazed and nostalgic about the journey this guy has had. Who would have thought that a former NBA-MVP, Scoring Champion and home-town hero was now struggling for a home in the NBA when he can STILL play? Either way, a miracle ended him back where it all began, in the town we thought he’d play at for the rest of his career.
To cut a long story short, I was in my garage the other day looking for some VHS’ when I came across what you see below. Amazing what can change in the space of 8 years. Before Memphis, before the benching at Detroit, before the stint at Denver, before walking out of Philadelphia in a huff, here was Allen Iverson, about to become the NBA’s MVP for the first time and lead his team into the NBA Finals.
